Awoken Headcanons
note: this is mostly based on my own audacity rather than actual lore. 🤫
-
Earthborn and Awoken Guardians are like the book versions of LotR elves, while Reefborn are like the movie versions. They're actually similar, but to outsiders, Earthborn are friendly and full of life while Reefborn are aloof and elegant like their queen. This perception, though frustrating to people like Petra, generally works in Mara's favor so she allows it to continue.
Awoken Speech sounds more like creole than a separate language. This is due to the multitude of languages spoken aboard the Yang Liwei, which then carried over into the dialects in the Distributary. Although some argue Speech is a mixed language rather than creole, consensus from both the Gensym Scribes and Last City's Cryptarchy has not yet been reached.
Portmanteau examples:
daatma (ดาว/"dāw" + आत्मा/"ātman"): Awoken [older gen]
tulatma (tulay + आत्मा/"ātman"): Awoken [younger gen]
luxïn (luz + 星/"xīng"): starlight
noyam (noyer + يوم/"yawm"): Darkness
Traditional Awoken names usually sound "soft," with palatalized consonants and several vowels. The most common ending letters are "A" (Mara, Petra, Amrita) and "N" (Uldren, Jolyon, Nasan), while the most uncommon letter is "K" (Tulnik).
Most Reefborn are highly superstitious, due to the environment they grew up in. However they don't consider themselves superstitious, as it is only "practical" to refer to The Dreaming using epithets instead of names, or to look for omens in dreams, or to treat water and reflections as near-sacred, and so on.
Promises and vows / oaths are generally a life-long ordeal for Awoken, especially for Reefborn and especially if they are made to Mara. This is partly influenced by the post-Distributary riots, partly influenced by contracts with Ahamkara, and partly influenced by Mara's own charisma, which has created an almost religious devotion* amongst her followers.
*(Embarrassingly, when Calus sought to imitate this sense of devotion to lure Awoken Guardians to the Menagerie, he was partially successful.)
Balance is an important part of Awoken culture. Past and future and life and death are strongly emphasized by Reefborn, while Earthborn have integrated Old Earth philosophies like yin-yang and wabi-sabi. While Awoken Guardians tend to be less ardent about balance and/or a desire for it, there are noticeably less Awoken within the Praxic Order than in other Vanguard-affiliated organizations.
The Awoken don't believe in a physical afterlife, only the Unreal. This makes the existence of Awoken Guardians egregious to other Awoken, as they do not "return" from death, but rather "take form" of people who no longer exist. Even so, Guardians (or "Noble Dead") are still treated with respect - out of love for the ones they look like, and fear of the entities they are.
(Awoken don't believe in reincarnation either, as The Awakening is considered an "extraordinary" circumstance.)
Contrary to popular belief, male Awoken aren't ostracized in Reefborn society, and they aren't considered second-class citizens either. Even so, due to the 70/30 split [which has persisted since the Distributary], it is rare to see male Reefborn in high-level positions or as Techeuns. The perceived lack of opportunity has led to an increase in Reefborn emigrants in recent years, especially after the Battle of Saturn.
Due to the loss of resources and difficulties of growing food in the Reef, Reefborn dishes are "bland" compared to Earthborn ones. The most common seasonings are salt, cold-hardy herbs like mint, and corasteri (a star-shaped culinary variant of asphodelia). However, Reefborn food is both warming and filling, which is suited to a life in deep space.
The Dreaming City is surprisingly bare in terms of flora and fauna. Aside from pink asphodelia, queensfoil, baryon bough and memorial trees - most of which are cultivated - there are very few plants to be found. Spectral butterflies and non-native jewel bugs can be found in gardens and lost sectors, and starcats have free rein of the buildings, but there is no urban wildlife like in the Last City and Earth's metropolitan ruins. The vibrance is an illusion; it is as empty as the Reef's biodomes.
Earthborn do not live as long as their Reefborn counterparts; higher oxygen levels, increased gravity, and larger amounts of pollution make life more difficult for people adapted to space. Ironically, this is the inverse issue the Awoken faced when leaving the Distributary.
Awoken anatomy is uncanny if you look closely enough. Most traits fall within expectations (eg resistance to radiation, increased reaction time) but adaptations like tapetum lucidum can still startle people who aren't used to seeing them. Experimental traits, which are common in later-generation Reefborn, make some seem entirely inhuman. And the ability to track Guardians by their Light will never not be creepy.
Experimental traits include but aren't limited to: pointed ears; nictitating membranes (i.e. "third eyelids"); and genital slits [for Awoken specifically created for deep space missions].
Due to a history of bio-engineering, cybernetic augments are seen as unnecessary and rarely utilized outside of eutechs, and later, Techeuns. Fully robotic components, such as exo frames, are practically unheard of and often met with pity or revulsion.
The 891 are forbidden from seeking information about their lives from The Time Before (aka pre-Collapse lives), as it is considered a "distraction" from Mara's plan. Descendant Awoken are also discouraged from pursuing such info unless it is considered pertinent to their mission.
Queenslaw has been partially lifted in the Reef, due to the influx of Guardians after the Battle of Saturn. Many things once considered illegal or taboo are now acceptable, and some things are even encouraged. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with these "sudden" changes and it has done little to reduce tensions between factions, most notably the Gensym Scribes and the Last City's Cryptarchy.
-
Reefborn sobriquets often refer to relationships (Uldren "Queensbrother," Taranis "Rivensmate," Petra "Covensdaughter"). Earthborn nicknames are often more individualized but still invoke a sense of interconnectedness (eg "Swornsister" Takara, Avraam "Firstborn").
Although the Awoken are known for their music (for ceremonies, parties, mourning, etc.) Earth-derived music seems just as violent to them as the Guardians who enjoy it. Knowing this, RZ-3 intentionally made a playlist to "scare" Petra on missions, and has successfully startled several Corsairs by belting out the lyrics to "Teenagers" while doing patrols.

𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧!𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞
↳ warnings: mentions of demons, ghosts, over all spooky stuff
↳ song: sweet dreams in sea major—miracle musical
masterlist!
• Shane leads an interesting life
• Er, afterlife, I suppose, considering he had only sprouted his black, fluffy wings after being plucked from the land of the living
• But I digress
• Besides—he was happy
• He had never been the kind of demon to engage in all that blood torture and acult shit anyways. Instead, he took pleasure in harmlessly scaring assholes or the occasion teenager that he would stumble upon durring the witching hour—although that was mostly code for a three am dunkin' doughnuts run
• "The munchies are a serious thing, Ryan. What can I say?" He had shrugged nonchalauntly once, grinning goofily down at his friend that had just been asking about the bags under his eyes—which resulted in tales of his midnight snack runs. You stood with your arms crossed not too far away, shaking your head slowly, but Shane could see the hint of a smile tugging at your lips
• "You really meet to get better sleep, dude. I'd hate to postpone filming for TMS, but you know I will if you aren't up to it. Doesn't mean that Steven won't give you hell for not letting him do his bit with Ricky though." Ryan had just sighed, rubbing at his own eyes as if the conversation itself had tired him out. But just like how Shane had noticed with you, he could see the ravenette resisting the urge to smile
• "I mean, insomnia is the first sign of possession after all. Can't have a supernatural being living inside of the company, our fans would give us hell." At last came his joke. It earned a snort from you, pleasing Ryan, whose eyes crinkled at the edges pleasantly
• Shane just grinned sharply
• If only you two knew
• That was another fun thing about his chosen predicament
• I mean, come on. A demon who's best friends with someone terrified of them? All the while pretending he doesn't believe anything of the sort? At this point, he should just up and leave for Juliard. A degree in acting was a shoe in for sure with how he had been living the past few years of his eternal damnation
• And it was all the more fun with you there as well, the yin to his and Ryan's yang. Always ready with just the right thing to say in the moment or a shitty pun you had heard the other day. Throw Steven in the mix and the four of you were thick as fucking theives
• There were some downsides though. With life (er, death?) there always was
• Ghost Files was one of the things Shane looked forward to the most at Watcher. Doing Buzzfeed Unsolved had been amazing, and even though he was an inhuman being that could crumble businesses with a flick of his pointed tail if he wanted to—demons did play a part in evil corporations after all—it felt liberating to build Watcher from the ground up with Ryan, Steven, and you.
• Plus, there was the added bonus of more shows now—one of which included puppets. He particularly enjoyed that one
• But Ghost Files was the crowned jewel. The one thing everyone—crew, audience, staff, even cameramen—looked forward to
• What can I say. Old habits die hard—and most of these people had been doing Buzzfeed Unsolved since they could properly hold a mic. It felt good to do something familiar
• And that's what it had been like for Shane. He was excited, no, downright giddy, to be back in the element of ghosts and ghouls
• It was fun to watch you and Ryan skirt around an entirely ghost free house, nerves on end as the two of you jumped every little noise. Most of which Shane made
• That's not to say that the three of you didn't find haunted places. Oh no. You most certainly did. The Sally House was the most memorable of them
• That demon really had been ready to kill Ryan and you that night. Right on the pentagram in the basement. But Shane had been able to coax (read: threaten) it into not doing anything but flash a flashlight once or twice
• But sometimes, his true form wasn't enough to spook off the spooks, so to say. It was rare, but occasionally some brave, or incredibly stupid, ghosts would try their luck at laying a hand on you or Ryan
• That got them a one way ticket to the second death they would ever have the pleasure of experiencing. The one delt out by Shane being arguably worse than anything that happened in their mortal lifetime
• He cared for his people. It was as simple as that. So what if that made him unethical as a demon. He played around with hand puppets half the time for fucks sake and he enjoyed it. He was far from an ethical demon at this point, and he was fine with that
• Didn't mean that having to ward off spirits didn't put him into a bad mood though
• Shane would probably never admit it, but the idea of something hurting you two while he wasn't there to protect you left a taste as bad as brimstone in his mouth
• "Shane? Dude, you're looking pale. Well paler than usual." You had stopped in the middle of filming once to comment on his appearance, trying to hide the way you sucked at your cheeks with anxiety. "Don't tell me you've finally cracked and begun to get scared by all this."
• Ryan had smiled at your joke. But the smile slowly slid off his face as he took another look at Shane, who was not laughing in the slightest
• "That Taco Bell we ate earlier didn't settle well, that's all." Shane's excuse was flimsy, but he couldn't care less right then. He just wanted to stay as close to you two and the crew as possible in case another spirit tried anything
• "Alright. But if you need to say the word and we can take a break." You said steadily, jabbing Ryan in the gut playfuly when he didn't automatically back you up
• "Yeah! Yeah, what they said. And jeez you didn't have to hit me so hard. Asshole—"
• "Oh you wanna go Bergara?" You had laughed, comically winding your arm up like Popeye used to do in the cartoons. Ryan scoffed, donning his Ricky Goldsworth voice as he began to fake fight with you
• The sight was enough to bring a small smile to Shane's face. The two of you always managed to do that
• "Nerds." He chuckled, bad mood already begining to lift a little
• "Loser." Both you and Ryan threw back the insult at the same time, laughing all the while

[ATTACHED: A short video. Rotom is following N and Blake from behind as they skate down one of the sidewalks of Nacrene City, before stopping in front of museum. Nyx hops down from N's skateboard, and darts off somewhere off screen as Beau begins flying after her.
"Don't go too far, you two!" N calls to the Zorua and Swoobat as they run off to go play, but just purses his lips when he sees they aren't regarding a word he says. With a sigh, he turns back to his partner, who's plopped down onto the museum's stairs to slide their skates off. He digs out a water bottle from his pocket, before placing his board off to the side and plopping down beside them.
He takes a long sip, then offers it to Blake. "You need any?"
"Yeah, thanks," they huff out, accepting the bottle from him and gulping down the rest. As they set it by their hip, they glance down at N's black and green board, admiring the Zoroark design painted on the bottom. "Are you sure it's been five years since you last skateboarded? You ride around on that thing like a pro! I don't think I could stand on one without slipping and eating dirt."
He glances between them and the skateboard, before placing a hand on the top of it. "You wanna give it a try? I could show you how. It's not as hard as it looks."
"Uh- maybe later," Blake chuckles and lift a hand in polite refusal, grinning sheepishly. "I'd like to avoid my getting-a-nosebleed-in-front-of-Nacrene-Museum to go up to two."
N blinks a few times in surprise, glancing back at the steps before he lights up in realization. "Oh... oh! That's right, this is where we had our second meeting."
"Yeah! I fell on my face while running up the stairs and almost crashed into you, remember?"
"Mhm," N has a mix of fondness and amusement in his eyes as he recalls the memory. He digs out the Yin-Yang necklace from under his shirt and shows it to them. "Of course I do. This was where you got me this, remember? Well- you didn't give it to me back then, but this was where you got it from."
"Yeah!" Blake smiles when they see the old trinket. "This was also where I got you that new handkerchief after I uh, bloodied your old one. Do you still have that?"
"I believe it's in my coat pocket back at home," she lets the necklace fall against her chest as she scratches the side of her jaw. "But yes, I do. I'm guessing you didn't keep the one I gave to you though, right?"
"Uh, no, I threw that away-" Blake coughed. "Sorry. I didn't think a bloodstained piece of cloth would have that much uh, sentimental value."
N just laughs lightly, shaking her head. "It's fine, it's fine- I didn't expect you to."
"Okay, good," Blake sighs out in relief, mouth still resting in a half-grin. "You wanna go inside and catch up with the others, then? Maybe we can visit the gift shop an-"
They stop, smile fading when they notice the sudden distant expression cast on their partner's face. "Hey, you alright?"
"Oh-" N jumps a little, like she's just snapped back to reality. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just uh, thinking a little."
Blake tilts their head, with curiosity and a twinge of concern. "About what?"
"It's nothing," N rubs the back of his neck, before sitting back up and looking over the cityscape before them. "I just like this place. It's one of the few good memories I have with you from... back then."
His smile falters as he speaks, before he ends off the sentence with a small huff. "I'm... sorry that I- mm." He squeezes his eyes shut and shakes his head. "Sorry."
Blake's lips part open a little as they try to think of what to say. They settle for resting a comforting hand over his own, fingers squeezing gently but firmly. "Hey, it's alright. Say what's on your mind."
She gazes at them for a long moment, before her eyes fall to where their hands are intertwined. She rubs their palm with her thumb as she speaks. "I just... I'm sorry that I ended up breaking your trust after that. I remember what you said to me the day we met here... how you felt like you couldn't find anyone who understood you or the things you'd gone through after you came to Unova, and all that.... I can't imagine how you felt after I told you who I was. You trusted me with that part of yourself, and I- I stabbed you in the back."
"Hey..." Blake murmurs reassuringly. "You trusted me too. That's why you told me. And I wasn't exactly as understanding as I should've been."
"Blake, I admitted to being a part of the organization that'd caused you and your friends nothing but grief," N scoffed. "No one would take that well."
"Still!" They went on. "I should've realized you weren't being malicious, you were in a dangerous situation back then and didn't know. Maybe if I'd-"
They bite their tongue, before rubbing their forehead with their free hand. "We both made mistakes back then. I think all we really wanted was just... someone who understood. But we were both too stubborn to just talk out our differences."
"Look, the point is-" They gesture about vaguely, trying to figure out what they were trying to before. "We were a pair of fucked up kids who were too angry at each other and the world to know what we were doing. And it's all in the past and we've sorted everything out since then, sure, but-"
They squeeze her hand, and turn to look deeply into her eyes. "It's okay to still feel bad about it. I do too, all the time- What we both went through was messed up! And we can't go back and change it, either."
"What I'm trying to say is..." They lean in closer, letting their arm rest against N's. "You don't need to hide it from me when you're thinking about it again."
"I know..." N murmured, averting his gaze to the ground. "I just- I feel like I burden you with all my guilt so often."
"I'd rather you tell me about it then bottle it all up," Blake expresses. "Look, it doesn't matter if I have to tell you a million times that I've forgiven you. I'll do it for the rest of our lives if I have to."
"Wouldn't you get tired of it?" A smile slowly but surely begins to tug at the corners of his mouth again.
"Nah," Blake just shrugs. "I owe it to you after you put up with so much of my clumsiness."
The couple both break into soft laughter, before Blake lifts their hand up and rests their hand on the back of his neck, gently tugging him into a kiss. After the two part, they stay like that with their foreheads resting together, reveling in the silence and each other's company as the sun casts a warm glow on them.]

I'm feeling quite chatterboxy. is it alright if I chatter? I'm gonna chatter even if it wasn't
firstly, I have a crush on Yin-Yang, I mean, they're really cute in their sleep, cuddling that plushie of his and all... By the way I also have plushies! oh and if you're wondering why I know what he looks like asleep, don't worry I'm not a creep, we just share a room.
also is it weird I don't wanna get rid of my boobs? I dunno, they feel nice there. actually back as a kid when I was cis I hated them. I guess my brain just has it mixed up, I dunno.
sometimes I don't feel the creative juices flowing, like right now, I dunno why. but sometimes I get real great ideas like with my Homestuck OC, which is a seadweller because my zodiac sign is peixes, anyway I had just.. an epiphany! he's from Fin-land! get it? like, Finland, but uhh, fin, because she's a seadweller?
-🧀
Literally, chat away. At least someone has a voice around here, other than Salty. I have no idea where she's been recently.
Yin-Yang, huh? Geez, that's more of a surprise for me than it would be for them. Like, they seem nice.. most of the time, anyway. Keep them away from my vanity, though.
Last time wasn't the greatest.. lost half of my makeup because of them.
I don't think it's weird if you wanna keep your breasts, cheeseface. Look, I may come off as.. ehm, mean, or whatever — but I'm not downright nasty, kay?
If you wanna keep them, you do that. I'm not gonna judge my makeover buddy, like, ever. Even if we aren't exactly.. friends.
Keep the jokes going. I'm totally rooting for you, or.. something like that. The creative liquids will come through the gates in like, seconds flat!
You're tolerable, fyi. Don't take that as a friendship thing or anything.
Now.. where's my scissors gone?

HIIIII following a recent question I got (keep lookout for another post like this answering the other one sometime in the future, y'all 😌), I'm taking this opportunity to Finally explain specifics & thoughts I have about how Landiver works as a ship in my mind, why I ship them etc. No it's not justification because I will not be Not shipping these idiots anytime soon, Landiver and Ginhawk are two of like six total ships from all my fandoms that live rent-free and undebatably permanently in my mind thanksss <3
and so yea on that note, any of yall reading this don't have to agree with everything I say!! (Pls don't tell me what you disagree with tho I'm not gonna stop you from thinking what you will and all opinions are valid esp in the realm of like, fan-interpretation of fictional characters, but I am so full of anxiety I will be afraid and scared; I am just begging, don't point out what you don't agree with just leave me beeeeee)
I also realize a lot of this is my personal interpretations of them, which may or may not be entirely accurate (tho to be fair, we only rlly did get glimpses of who the pretenders rlly are as ppl, considering how plot-heavy a series it was; I'd say Hawk got the most attention in terms of that and even he doesn't get as much expansion as I'd have liked 😭) so....there's a lot of room for said interpretation imo.
But yea anyway, I'm talking purely canon Landiver (not gonna get into my AU anytime soon because it's relatively similar to this with more focus on different details bc they have different pasts and such in that....so yea)
Without further ado, my rambles are below the cut. Apologies for any grammatical errors, I typed this on my phone on the bus going home and while laying on my bedroom floor 😭✨
Enjoy! :']
///
I think they work as a ship for a bunch of reasons (I'm only gonna mention some of my thoughts about this because I don't wanna go on for too long 😳)!!!!!
One, their personalities being somewhere in the middle of "opposites" and "the same." Like not "yin and yang" kinda thing but they're also not the same type of person either. Lander might be more confident, talkative, and quicker to get emotional/heated about things compared to an exponentially more easy-going and level guy like Diver. But Diver isn't shy or unemotional, and he is most certainly confident in himself. Both of them Give 0 fucks™ but in different ways, I guess. In that regard, I feel like they also mix very well personality-wise. Lander is more interested in doing the talking, the ranting, etc. Diver says what he needs to in shorter ways in general, prefers listening and making input here and there, chuckling while Landmine fumes about some guy at work. However he might also be slightly more wordy when talking to Lander. Conversely, Lander might be more chill and show the "softer" sides of himself with Diver, the side that loses that usual "cool, confident, smooth guy" composure for example. Fumbles up his usual fast-paced talk because he's distracted w the guy in front of him (when they're in a mostly romantic mood, that is) Lander is certainly more organized and can be a little uptight about things going as they were planned to, whereas Diver (like me lmao 😭) is kind of just perpetually confused a little bit, and just going with it. But see, it doesn't seem that way because he always has this look about him that says to the outside world that he's got this and he is not fazed. He forgets stuff a lot, spaces out, dozes off, etc. Lander's got his back with that tho ✨
Diver isn't as emotional as Lander, so he's a great touchstone for Lander to center himself when he starts to panic or flip out about something. And he only lets himself do that with Diver because he feels like he can. And, being with Lander for so long has encouraged him to express himself and be emotional in his own way more often than before they met. Slowly, over time.
They have different interests for the most part, and aren't going to pretend they want to adopt every single one of each other's interests, but they have a mutual understanding of that, and enjoy the difference in tastes. So they just let each other be. Little things like: Lander's a city person, Diver's a nature guy. Lander prefers style and flashiness, Diver just wants what works, and doesn't mind. Lander is watching like five different dramas at once when he's not working his day job or out on missions, and Diver enjoys reading more (which might be because he's out on be boat or busy doing lots of really hands-on work with aquariums and such for his day job, spending less time than his partner does in an office doing paperwork). Diver will easily take a beer over an expensive wine Lander might've found, and Lander likes finer-quality alcohol, but both would be willing to have the other thing if they're hanging out together and one really wants to have their thing that night. And, they both love a good fistfight, enjoy physical touch as a primary (Diver) or secondary (Lander; his primary is actually gift-giving) love language, drinking, and collect cassette tapes together ✨
Also quick aside, but I HC they chose human bodies that put them around mid-to-late-40s. This is interesting because for example, Hawk has a body that puts him at like 23 (yes specifically 23 don't ask 😳) in human years, and Phoenix is mid-30s. Then we have the other humans characters who are actually just their age (Ginrai is 19, etc...) However, in Cybertronian years, the Pretender team are relatively like the same age, give or take a [cybertronian] year. This is another reason they are so easily connected in a way, because both in human years and cybertronian, they're around the same age, but especially as humans, they'd be not rlly old or super young. Idk how to describe it properly but maybe you know what I mean?? 😳
They are also incredibly playful with one another--always have been. Like, lowkey harassing one another (affectionately) and constantly joking around/making witty quips back and forth in their way, with a specific type of energy no one else has. In fact, they have energies that match in a way where they are as they always have been: like old friends. No one else quite gets it. They're just....a pair. Always together, which I feel like even in the anime you see them fooling around together and perpetually side by side. (Take that one bit where Diver grabs Lander and like ruffles up his hair....i love their vibe sm 😭✨)
They never descend into a serious argument because even their constant "bickering" isnt really bickering at all and more just making comebacks at one another over something on which they disagree, until one bursts into laughter and the other follows.
[Landiver in general is a whole different vibe to say, Ginhawk, both having intimately sweet moments but in very different ways.]
They are more than willing to bring it up when they don't like something/have something to talk about, not worried even for a moment what the other will think, because it will always be the safest place to simply talk it out amongst themselves. They would be hard-pressed to trust anyone else when either have somth serious to discuss. Maybe (hard maybe) Phoenix, since he's usually hanging out with those two when he's around (which is just not that often at all, I'll get into that in the other thread haha) and is somewhat a close friends...but usually it's just Lander and Diver. However even s, they rarely ever have to because they don't really have lines to cross with each other...they do not hold back when goofing around in their definitely shared sense of humor 😭💀✨
Also, I feel like it took them an extremely long time to actually formally get together just because...like, they've always been together anyway, but didn't really know how to go about,,, relationships in the official sense--if that was even something they wanted. It was on and off and on and off again for a while, Lander and Diver trying other relationships with other people for a long time (especially in the period of time after being separated to the different parts of the country once Lander got his new job over in New York and left where he'd been with Diver, again a whole separate thing I have HCs for which I touched on in my "In Relativity" fic; on that note I wanted to mention in both my AU and in canon, I HC Lander as bi and Diver as gay ✨). But they always found it didn't really....connect. over and over, both of them coming back together but not really being sure what it even was they had...and then something happens where it just clicks, and they realize, that...there isn't really anything else they should do. They do belong beside one another. They can be true only with each other, because when they are together, they are "home." As friends in a deeper, more intimate sense of that. Partners....lovers. But always friends, because they both think the whole relationship labels thing puts a wrench in the vibes. It's just very complicated to explain for them, but there's never been any kind of malice or struggle between them other than coming to the final conclusion how the answer has always been in front of them. They've known each other for centuries in our human terms, and they know they've been together forever in a sense, but sometimes it feels like they've known each other even longer.
(When they finally, formally got together, Ginrai and Phoenix just nodded to one another, like they've been waiting for this for ages, and Phoenix playfully punches Diver, who just starts laughing. Hawk, the other godmasters and the kids, are all just happy for the two)

The Science Behind Viral Advertising Campaigns: Decoding the Magic
Amidst the uncharted depths of the digital realm, where attention spans are short and content gluts permeate, viral ad campaigns act as the seemingly inaccessible holy grail. These campaigns aren't the traditional marketing that is mere marketing; they go beyond the marketing; they become part of our culture, they spark conversations, and they end up leaving an indelible impression on our collective unconscious. However, why can this soluble mix of creativity, psychology, and strategy make these campaigns great successes? That’s why we should take a closer look at what these guys did right and learn how to create our own explosion.
Emotional Alchemy: Stirring Hearts and Minds
At the core of every successful viral campaign is an innate emotional potion. We can say that emotion is the currency of human connection, and the companies with power over this currency have achieved a lot of things. One campaign that leverages the power of mainstream media is Dove Real Beauty Sketches. Through the theme of true beauty and self-love, the brand Dove was able to send the community the right message. Users were not mere consumers; they became torchbearers, magnifying the message through dissemination on social networks. Whatever it may be from laughs, nostalgia, empathy, or even awe, this idea of connecting to emotions makes virality possible.
Buzz Buttons: The Catalysts of Contagion
Social share buttons are like magic bolts that spark off chats as well as content sharing. These buttons can take various forms: a sense of humor, which may stem from controversy, curiosity, or a pure sense of audacity. Can you remember Old Spice’s “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” commercials? They were humorous, absurd, and unexpected, making people all over the world buzz about them. In your campaign, therefore, look for buzz buttons—triggers that make people click the share button—and sprinkle them in strategic positions.
The Attention Economy: Hook, Line, and Sinker
In a world where attention is rarer than a legend of a unicorn, viral ads know how to get eyeballs for what they are worth. opening seconds either make it or break it. Optimize for impact: sharp visuals, startling queries, or eye-popping incidents. Maybe you do remember the “Will It Blend?” series of Blendtec? He held it and drew attention by shuffling his clubs, bothered by the shyness of the man. With that catchy hook, the world of virality revolves around that irresistible force, which pulls these viewers from scrolling past.
Triggers: The Memory Anchors
Triggers are memory anchors; these are cues that come in a subtle way, not affecting an immediate prompt recall. Those reminders should be associated with everyday triggers. Whether it is a song, a bona fide motto, or a visual symbol, triggers make your brand live in the minds of your audience. What about Intel’s “Intel Inside” jingle, which is quite simple to remember and unconsciously brings to mind, “Oh, yes, we are here!” That’s just one of the triggers that keep your campaign in the public eye, not as a comet but as a constellation written in people’s memory.
The Yin and Yang of Emotions
Emotions are back in full focus. Positive emotions drive sharing: the happiness of finding and the honesty of relationships. Do not think that positive emotions can trump negative emotions at all times. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge successfully combined two things: a social cause (raising awareness for ALS) and a fun, participatory activity. It made the heartstrings vibrate and sprayed participants with pie frigidity. Understand the emotional makeup of your target audience and customize your content to meet their needs.
Conclusion: Crafting Your Viral Elixir
Know the science, and it may evolve. But don’t forget the art. Make material that attracts chit-chat, moves people's peanuts out, and distributes quickly. As you conceptualize your next ad, remember: after all, touching every heart after a share is a human heart, waiting to be inspired. Want to explore viral strategies further? Reach out to us! My favorite subgenre of Naruto fics is "person does Honest Good Thing™ and local ninjas stare accusingly"! It's so funny to me! Like, the paranoia involved just--I like these kinds of misunderstandings lol
And I did have more details for this idea but I was on lunch and didn't have time lol, so here we goooo!
What they're actually doing is basically manifesting raw chakra, Yin and Yang specifically for the sun and moon light variations. It's part bloodline thing they can do it to begin with and part philosophical discipline. Like, it's not like doing hand signs and making earth clones or whatever.
You're basically coaxing a natural force to manifest while not destroying you for the audacity.
They could make threads out of other chakras but it gets... Wibbly.
Water doesn't last long on account of it dripping out of shape unless it freezes. Air is just a tiny jetstream in practice. Lighting is mostly cooperative in respect of point A-> point B, but good luck keeping it straight. Earth... Well that's a metal wire basically? I know there's others but you can imagine how hard it would be to make a thin manifestation of a single element where everyone else is making bombs and giant walls.
They also have 'chakra scars' on their hands and forearms cause there's not much material capable of totally blocking it out long-term. Sun scars tend to be jagged and moon scars curling. They glow in the dark (not very subtle) and pulse when they try to use their normal chakra. In the light they look mostly like normal, faint scars, if a little colored oddly. They tend to grow... Wider? Deeper? With time and use.
Light tends to form in their hands like tufts of fur, whereupon they roll it between their fingertips to form thread. Pools require a bit of a different approach and a lot of concentration (hence their quilts and specialty items taking forever). The effects lasting longer the more you keep the bulk of it in the dark, away from conflicting light sources.
It's like a magic trick that way. Usually, something is lost when you dissect all the parts. In theory, someone could rip open all the seams, inspect every inch of fabric and stuffing, and put it back together exactly the same. But it won't work like it used to, if at all.
Also floating the idea they're a semi-retired desk chunin or something and the entire time they've been making threads people assumed it was Chakra Strings, which is similar but Not The Same. And that they suck equally or are equally proficient in all chakra types with no favorites because their technique basically forced them to be neutral so manifesting thread didn't kill them or something. Their chakra coils are probably a little fucky too tbh
Likely considered a mildly competent but not very noteworthy ninja if they were one.
I also like the idea that there's usually only one or two people into their family who can do this shit because it's about temperament just as much as bloodline and a little luck. The rest are like, farmers and ranchers, so they have a supply of natural crafting resources.
I vaguely remember wanting them to be able to make 'blessings' with a complex mix of bastard seals or something but I don't strictly recall the details anymore.
There's like, a lot of things they can do with this weird ability.
Moonlight assists in dreams, but also illusions, emotions, fine healing, cold, evasion, and sometimes unsettlingly prophetic/nightmarish dreams.
Sunlight is good for energy but also fire/blinding light creation, heat, fast healing, explosions, charisma, raw strength, and endurance.
With practice, they can make a whip out of either, and in desperation, elements or foreign chakra (but control is wacky as fuck). So, as an example, they could make a lightning chakra whip in a pinch with Kakashi, but that doesn't mean they could control it well. Without him, they'd probably need to fuck with an electrical outlet or a storm to do it themselves.
They just aren't good with the main elements and combining it with the whip form.
Oh! And with a Sun Whip, every crack has a flash of light! Very cool! Causes sunburns on contact or lights things on fire! Moon Whip tends to freeze things.
It would be funny if they aren't a ninja and just fucked around with their shit on their own time without anyone noticing cause who TF cares what this random farmer/rancher/shepard does in their free time.
The confused stares of horror as a random ass civilian literally whips out a fiery Sun Whip during the invasion... That'll be a long interrogation session, I assume.
Meanwhile they're just like "I thought y'all didn't care about clan shit."
"We care!!! About civilians!! Making Elemental Weapons in their spare time!! Why aren't you a ninja?!?"
"What about my Sun Whip looked low-key to you? Also, suck at the techniques"
"...you made. A whip. Of fire.... How are you bad at jutsus?!?"
"Oh, that's not a jutsu, I was just fucking around and did that one day. Really scares the fuck out of the sheep."
(the ninja interrogating them just quietly weeps, unable to figure out how they'll explain all this in the report)
Idk though!
There's a lot of fun I could have with this idea either way! A civilian minding their business or ninja with a Weird Skill!
I'd need to sit and draw them out to decide most of the details! I like to design from the ground up so they... Look right? If that makes sense? And it's been a while since I got into Naruto, so some of this may be pretty inaccurate to how it all works lol
Besides the jokey bird idea for Naruto, I've sat on this weird little plot bunny/worm thing for ages, and would probably be the one I actually bothered to put work into first with a dedicated OC and everything.
Specifically the weirdly evocative image of someone who can make threads out of light.
It's not a combat thing, but it could be in a tight spot.
But basically they mostly just use it to craft things. Able to... Sort of gather light and twist it into thread? It's time consuming and, depending on the light, damages their hands and eyes so they have to be careful. But it has neat effects depending on the light 'harvested'.
Like, sunlight tends to make people energetic and robust, but also causes light burns and leaves then tired afterwards. Moonlight is soothing but can make you a little... Ditzy and spacey. Good for healing though with minimal scarring.
And the exact kind of light effects it too, so they have to keep that in mind.
Idly making braids with sunlight and letting them fade out. To anyone else it looks like they're spontaneously making thread, but light beams appear thicker to them and have a faint physical sensation.
Had the funny idea about them mostly making crafts with their specialty thread (or fabric/stuffing soaked in raw pools of light). And they make quilts specific for good sleep. And a ninja buys one and uses it only to freak out at how fucking effective it was.
So they're just... Sitting in an interrogation room like
"So... I'm in here... Because someone bought a quilt to help them sleep... And... It worked? And that's... Bad?"
And the ninja is kinda frustrated cause it sounds so fucking stupid but they're hardcore PTSD ass hasn't had peaceful sleep since they were a toddler, so the idea that a SINGLE QUILTED BLANKET could knock their ass out for the most restful night of their entire life is SUSS AS HELL.
Fun idea of their work room being essentially a dark room because the extra materials they gather can't be 'contaminated' by other types of light. Just thick, wooden chests with marking in light paint so they can read it in the dark.
Their shits expensive cause the good stuff takes forever to make and usually in their dark room which, as you can guess, is really hard to see in.
Maybe they're really light sensitive.
Awesome mental image of them being with a group on a mission for some reason and one of the ninjas get hurt, requiring stitches, and they immediately offer their services. Raising an empty needle up before the thinnest beam of light is pulled in to close the wound. Which heals with little pain or scaring.
Very neat.
I like this one the most and probably because I've been incubating it for like, 6 years lol
#mittens rambles#after spooky stuff lol#itll be nice to design a new oc again#this is mostly something ive been thinking about abstractly so its not heavily soaked into a fandom ngl

What did you think of the minipix and crystalized in general? I loved the ending but now im depressed that its all over (and as usual i wanted more pixal)
i absolutely loved minipix. we stan, 10/10
and, despite what i think is popular opinion, I adored crystallized as a whole. favorite things include
the 👏PARALLELS👏, my gosh. sam x saving the of four. water and electricity mixing. legit just EVERYTHING with harumi and lloyd. absolutely masterful
episode 17 was literally avengers endgame but ninjago and I loved it. it was so reminiscent and representative of everything we've built for the past 12 years. the serpentine, bentho, the merlopians, the shintarans, the prime empire crew, literally everybody was there and it was amazing
the SHIPS
jaya - "you know what does go together? MY FOOT AND YOUR FACE" slay king absolutely ICONIC STICK UP FOR YOUR GIRL
they mentioned the yin yang promise 🥺🥺🥺
the way jay is looking at her as the camera pans over them 🥺🥺
kailor oh my GOSH I LOVED HOW THEY HANDLED IT
skylor putting kai in his PLACE was so good, I'm so glad that they actually showed that it's not gonna be instantaneous or perfect, but they care and they're working towards it and they're talking and I loved it
and how in the final shot they show them talking like yes
pixane
pixane
P I X A N E
them
everything about them
pixal's goodbye to him 🥺 how he taught her how to love
"goodbye, my zane" shoot me 💔
it was perfect
cole and vania's hug....and how he's so defensive of her....and the look she gives him when saving him 🥹🫶 that's all I have to say
and lloyd and harumi, sweet mercy. I'll be honest I wasn't a huge fan of this going into crystallized but I loved how they didn't force anything, and how when everyone is together in the final shot, like jay and nya and pix and zane and kai and skylor, lloyd and harumi aren't, but there's that look between them and you know that there's a(n admittedly long) road to be walked should they choose it
harumi was insane she was so good, so cool, absolutely slayed
yeah...i liked crystalized.

Wonderful Hunter
Chapter 1: Awakening
Life was very odd when it came to the future. Sometimes souls are brought together in the most extreme circumstances...in a bang. Warning: Description of graphic injuries and swearing! Rating Estimate: Teen
I never wanted to be a hunter. Ever since I was little, there was a desire in me to perform. Dance on the stage to my own melody, to bring awe and in wonder for others to witness. A dream that I never had a chance to grab.
To perform in little free time, what wasn't taken by vigorous unwanted training. Nearly every piece of money made to buy materials with the purpose of crafting costumes was placed for ointment to mend any injury or ailment. A toy soldier who wished to no longer have a winding key.
Who would've thought that day where the key had broken was the day I died?
"What the hell did you do?!" The soft whir of electricity echoed through the void in a massive blur of distortion. Voices clear for all to hear but so jumbled that a possible identification of even a gender was impossible. Under all that chaos was a quiet heartbeat. "The machine is overloading! Everyone evacuate immediately!"
That soft whir grew into a high pitched whine as a formed cacophony alongside the harsh thuds from thousands of stomping feet. "___?! No, come back it's too dangerous! Leave that mongrel behind!" Growls of pain and concern from some unknown animal blend together with the crackle of electricity.
An explosion of bright white and velvet purple burst throughout the void with that heartbeat going silent and a small voice hidden amongst it all. Despite the darkness filling the abyss, sensations of phantom pain, muffled voices full of concern, and hands across the skin, that one voice overrides them all.
"We had a good run, pal. Misfits always stick together, ____."
Bright red eyes opened with a harsh start, their owner fully aware of the unfamiliar dimly lit room around them. These confused ruby orbs belonged to a young man around his mid 20s, and almost nude except for the black boxer briefs. Wild cherry blossom pink hair that ends halfway down the man's back, soft peach tan skin, 6'8 tall body sculpted with lithe but powerful muscle and covered in various scars.
Some of these healed wounds were mild such as scratches, bite marks, punctures but there were extreme ones from burns whether it be acid, electric or fire, 2 in deep lacerations to even a large bite mark on the jugular of his neck. Part of the man's body such as his chest and arms were covered in fresh gauze bandages paired with a crude makeshift splint on the right arm.
Raising an eyebrow, the young man removed the bandages whilst breaking the splint with a harsh pull before he took in his surroundings. The room seemed to belong to someone with a rich background from the decor alone. Pastel blue walls lined with beautiful expertly painted portraits, furnished dark oak dressers, a large vanity, double king sized bed complete with silk sheets, pillows, and hard oak frame, large oak wardrobe and three separate doors.
If anything, this made the man feel very out of place. He did catch what looked to be a pair of clothes folded by a table near him, a note on top of the stack. The pinkette delicately got out of the large bed and walked over to the table. 'Dear guest, sorry if I had to leave you a bit underdressed but your wounds needed to be addressed. Hope these would suit you until your wounds finally finish healing. The discussion about the armor would be a later dealing. Sincerely, Maestro of Wonderworld Theatre, Balan."
The man couldn't help the snort or raised eyebrow from the rhyme scheme of the note. His caretaker had left a plain white shirt and long black pants, the material being silk from spiders by the feel of it. Placing the clothes on, he noticed it was a perfect fit suspiciously as it wasn't too tight or loose.
Upon leaving the room, the young man fully understood where he was. It seemed to be a theatre, well, if a theatre was mixed with the dimensional size of a small mansion and aesthetics of a castle. The grand small staircases, rafters above a tall ceiling, fancy torches hanging through a few corridors and the various posters of different shows being some evidence.
As the pinkette walked down the halls, he couldn't ignore the feeling that he was either being watched or led somewhere. The corridors felt wrong, almost if the walls were alive and shuffling each other. He also can't forget the sensation of invisible eyes on his lone form. Whatever the case, the sound of someone talking or to be precise, two people grew louder.
"You are not touching my guest, Lance. Even if the man is odd, I will still hold a defensive stance./ That human isn't normal. Something you would easily notice if you drop being formal. Injuries on his flesh were those that can kill any human. You aren't blind to that weapon and armor made from materials that aren't of man."
Both voices were definitely male in tone and their owners' clearly arguing. The first voice was deep and had a texture similar to smooth chocolate, a type of sweetness paired with charisma. The second voice was softer just as it was light in pitch, however there was hidden animosity to the calm yet alluring tone, a siren luring their delusional prey.
All of it was coming behind a slightly opened door, perfect to peek through or eavesdrop. Quietly the pinkette tiptoed over to the oak frame, ruby eyes looking into the room on the other side. This particular door led to what appeared to be a bar from the kegs put on the side of the bar stand and the various liquor bottles stacked on the shelves behind it.
Sitting at a table adjacent to each other were two humanoids, both being significantly different from the other. The only traits these two oddities shared were their tall 10 maybe 11 ft tall forms, peculiarly thin waists, tendril-like hair, performer attire, spindly arms and spindly legs. Other than that, they could be considered Yin and Yang or opposites.
The one on the left had soft jellyfish-like pastel green hair similar to dreadlocks, pitch black skin, a large perpetual toothy smile, and amber yellow eyes that peered through his hat. A sparkling white hat bearing a red ribbon which acted like a mask for those odd eyes, red cravat, long sleeved short white coat with gold elegant rims, a black tuxedo vest, short red cape alongside fancy white gloves, long glittering white pants that were ruby red past the thigh with gold rims on the bottom, and white pointed shoes.
His opposed companion looked more human except for some glaring details. Deathly pale skin highlight by soft dark violet, long elven ears, blue eyes bearing slit pupils that dwelled in yellow iris, sharp clawed fingers, and long black tendrils with elegant markings in various colors such as green, pink, blue and yellow that sprung from the man's back but was also his hair.
A pitch black bodysuit with gold rims, torn long sleeved short violet cloak bearing elegant gold embroidery for a top, white mask shaped pauldrons on his bony hips and gold toed shoes made for nasty kicks. Wine glasses sat between these two eldritch like entities.
"Dragging others into darkness might be your role, but this one isn't taking a more grizzly toll. He is also greatly injured and like you said could've been dead if I didn't help instead." Spoke the top hatted male, that deep velvet voice belonging to him. It also meant that the darker counterpart had to be Lance from what the pinkette heard outside.
The young man scanned the room, ruby eyes looking for anything familiar to him. His focus immediately sharpened on the glint of darkish violet poking from a large wooden crate, belonging stripped off the pinkette. Carefully and quietly, the man opened the door then slipped inside.
He stuck close to the floor and moved about as the two slender giants were focused on their conversation. It was almost comical how the young man traveled on his hands and feet like a predatory cat, stealthily approaching the target without a sound.
The pinkette was about to reach for the box when the unexpected happened. The door he went through had slammed itself shut with a loud thud, both giants immediately pulled out of their conversation and watched as the chairs parted away from each other. An act that put the stunned human on full display, a deer in the headlights or hand in the cookie jar situation.
No one moved as it was a silent staredown, neither were expecting the chairs or door to come to life like that. It was the man who immediately broke out of his stupor first, the pinkette sidekicking the crate. The box shook as an object was flung out of it by the harsh force, a gun.
It was a double barrel shotgun that was an inky sinister violet in color, the barrels were that same violet but lightened to a red color by the end, the handle of the gun mimicked a dark violet scabbard bearing tannish gold spiral patterns on the side, bone like caparace similar to a segmented blade lined the bottom of the gun barrel and held the trigger within a bone like cage.
With very fluid movements, the pinkette grabbed the descending gun from the air by the handle and spun it until he was holding the trigger whilst the barrel was aimed at the two taller entities. Sapphire and amber could see the subtle cautious fear hidden in those steeled ruby orbs.
"Who the hell are you? And where am I?" The pinkette's voice was slightly rugged, fire within the husky baritone, and a bit of a growl in the pitch. You could hear how deadly serious the human male was at the moment from his voice alone. Lance and his unnamed companion carefully put their hands in the air, sudden movements would only spook the pinkette further.
"There is nothing to fear, you are completely safe here! Please put the gun down, such an item used in a theatre is a huge frown!" Even that giant smile remained despite the slight twitches that showed the top hatted male's nervousness, well, that plus the beads of sweat and now dot sized pupils.
Lance merely raised an eyebrow at the weapon. "You do know it is rude to destroy those bandages you were given? Balan had some difficulty but his will to help you was focused and driven." Those words made the pinkette lower his weapon but not drop it.
He contemplated the words then thought back to the note. Whatever conclusion that came to mind was enough for the smaller man to put the gun down on the table, something that eased the room's occupants. "That means you're Balan? Fucking hell. What the hell happened to me?" The pinkette questioned as he went to sit on the floor only for a chair to move in place instead.
An action that made the human jump back in shock, nearly kicking the chair. "Bloody hell! My day has already been Congalala shit so I really don't need all these magical shenanigans! Please tell me you have some liquor to spare." Balan and Lance could only look at each other completely aware of a very odd explanation.
Not even 5 minutes later, the pink haired man had down half a bottle of wine as he now sat with the taller odd men in the room. Massaging his head, the mortal man finally spoke up. "So I am in a magical sentient theatre that serves as a gateway to someone's heart. You two, mainly Balan, are tasked to use that magic to bring balance to anyone whose heart is out of place upon entering. Nearly godlike beings who performed this task for over 3000 years?"
The top hatted Maestro nodded his head in agreement while Lance took another swig of his wine glass. Both of them ignored the pinkette swearing under his breath, the guy was having a bad day so it was normal. Although none of them could deny that this particular person was anything normal at all.
"Alright. My name is Val'tah, Val'tah Choso and I'm a Monster Hunter." Val'tah quickly raised his hand up before Balan and Lance almost immediately shot out of their seats. "Whoa! Not that kind of hunter for Namielle's sake so don't have your knickers in a bunch. Do any of you have a pen and paper?"
Magically upon request, the mint green haired performer took out a pen and notepad from behind his cravat. Rolling his eyes, the hunter took the items and began to draw something on the paper. Val'tah then placed it on the table for both Maestros to see.
It was a sketch of what looked like a dragon made completely from stone. Stony humps that grew bits of moss protruding from the back, a tail that looked like large pebbles strung together, even flat wings to a wide meteor shaped body and narrowed rhinoceros-like face. "That is a Basarios, a Monster or species of monster."
Lance and Balan looked at the picture with curiosity. It definitely explained why the man had that sort of weapon or armor. "Hunters are sort of like mercenary peacekeepers. Whenever a monster starts a huge ruckus or someone has a job in monster infested territory, we get called to do it."
Taking a swig from the wine bottle, much to Balan's distaste, Val'tah continued. "We don't have to slay targets such as the Basarios if we want to. A Hunter has permission to capture and relocate any large monster to a better habitat, something that I usually do. Where I'm from, it's our duty to keep the balance of not only the ecosystem but between human and monster kind."
A hum of acknowledgment rumbled from Lance's throat, it was almost comical in a sense. Normal hunters have various goals in mind when it comes to hunting: glory or survival. This was the first time hearing about ones who bring balance amongst more dangerous fauna and humans. How very ironic.
"Very interesting, to imagine there is a world beyond the realm of our understanding. There is still a question, how did you end up in our sacred bastion?" Balan's question rang through Val'tah's head alongside a bit of pain. Memories flashing through the pinkette's mind as a look of solemn horror crossed his face.
"I'm remembering it now. I was assigned to an expedition to investigate some odd ruins located near Wyvern's End, a den of a very dangerous monster. Those ruins were actually a machine that accidentally turned on and… I think I was caught in an explosion. Dear Namielle, I think I died."
Silence washed over the room, it was so deafening that a pin drop could be considered a bomb going off. Balan's perpetual smile dropped into a neutral frown, horror crossing his eyes upon the hunter's visage earlier. Severe burns on the unprotected skin and his arm in a very unnatural angle...Wait.
Any other chance to say anything was stopped when a look of abstract terror and grief burned within Val'tah's eyes. "No…! Buena was with me. She must have got caught in the blast too! Where's Buena?!" The pinkette shot out of his chair, the piece of furniture hitting the floor with a loud thud.
Neither Lance or Balan could grab the hunter before he ran for the door, the hard oak opening into a gray expanse of rocky terrain than the actual hallway. Not that the change deterred the hunter as Val'tah ran in but surely took the two Maestros by surprise.
"The theatre opened its doors to a new world never seen before! Could this be the hunter's trauma born from his core or is it something more?" Balan was quick to pick out the growing intrigue within his darker counterpart's words. There was more going on with Val'tah but they couldn't figure it out without finding the man.
Both Maestros quickly ran through those doors to catch up with the hunter and his questionable head start. It appeared that the gray expanse was actually the part of a larger mountain, a steppe to be more accurate. Thick deciduous forests could be made out past some of the gray rocky cliffs other than the one the door led them there, vast yellow fields of grass and very rough uneven terrain laid alongside unknown fauna than just plants.
Or the terrifying large nest made from various sticks, broken logs, ivy, bones of different creatures; humans included, and large egg shell remains of whatever species made it. The only indication that this world was made by Val'tah's heart were the small floating islands and giant airborne accessories or props.
Ribbons woven through part of the forest, a showman's cane that hung by the cliff leading down to the grassy plain, masks hanging across the stone walls, and instruments disguised as plants or rocks playing beautiful music bearing a tribal origin by the beating drums, whistling flutes and sitar strings being strung.
"How very odd and peculiar. This place must be spawned from a memory very familiar. It will be harder to avoid any wrong, when the aura of this world is heavily strong." Balan spoke wearily, a feeling that they were being watched prickle the fuzz on his skin. There was also the strong sensation about splitting up being a very bad idea.
Using the cane to slide down to the forest below helped give both theatre dwellers a quick glimpse of the surrounding areas before they hit the ground. For a split second, Lance swore he saw something large moved through the trees. Whatever it was, it was too big to be Val'tah or any of his familiars.
Both Maestros landed on a reddish clay ridge, small ledges to an almost natural stone bridge connected the large ditch at the center, a small stream of water passing down the middle, various large mushrooms and beehives leaking honey from multiple branches. Or that they weren't exactly alone.
Grazing about the area were deer, their pelts were a dark green speckled by white dots that overlapped a soft peach underbelly, large grayish silver antlers for the males whilst the females had short black horns and azure eyes that stared at the duo. Some of the deer continued to munch on the flora while the others kept a wary gaze on Balan and Lance.
"Definitely inhabitants of Wonderworld but not quite. I think these deer were crafted by Val'tah's memories that hold powerful might." If these animals shared similar traits to their earthly counterparts, the Dark Maestro knew they were relatively harmless unless provoked.
Another thought then immediately crossed Balan's mind. "If these creatures are here, then we might have more to fear. These deer are prey…" Suddenly the various green pelted beasts rose their heads up, ears twitching as if they caught something the other two hadn't.
"Wouldn't a predator cause dismay?" The top hat wearing man really didn't like where things were going as the large herd began to scatter immediately when the sound of heavy thuds could be heard. One deer was running for the bridge, the thuds stopped and both Maestros only had time to blink when something large and purple snatched the scared fawn off the stone ground.
"Holy shit." Balan would've scolded Lance for foul language if they didn't have a bigger problem on their hands. The body of the snatched deer hung limply from the jaws of a giant purple monster. A 69 ft hulking dark violet draconic tiger, its body mostly covered in violet and yellow edged plates of caparace like armor bearing a ruby red underbelly, a short tigerine snout that held large sharp teeth and two large tusks at the ends of the mouth, giant jagged yellow horns that mimicked those on the helms of samurai which also covered long thin ears or the burning azure eyes.
Both front and back legs held four digit paws carrying razor sharp claws or what looked to be long yellow spikes on the forelegs, and the large reptilian tail that ended with a three pointed Spade spear. Balan and Lance watch the deer disappear into the beast's mouth, minced to pieces down its gullet and the feline smiled with blood tinted fangs.
Or that the draconic tiger let out a threatening roar right at the duo as bright blue fire burst from the edges of its mouth like a miasma. They barely had the chance to jump out of the way when the giant beast bounced at the two, sharp claws shredding through the dirt as if it were paper.
"This is a beast we'll have to fight or neither of us will come out alright!" Violence wasn't something Balan often indulged in but he knew there were times that he had no choice. Facing his hands forth, small spheres of yellow energy manifested on the maestro's fingertips before tossing them in the form of arrows.
With a wag of its tail, the draconic tiger brought forth burning blue will o' wisps and launched it back with a tail swipe. Both volleys of energy exploded into fireworks of their respective color, the armored beast leaping through the smoke with claws alight in blue fire.
Lance quickly dove under the beast while Balan flew over to the left side, the Dark Maestro flared out the tendrils on his back then slammed into the beast's unprotected belly alongside a vicious uppercut. The violet tiger felt the pain but took the opportunity to release a thin burst of glittering blue powder from its body before being launched into the air by Lance's attack.
Whatever the blue powder was irritated the raven haired male, the sensation being a mixture of itchy powder and bubbling hot grease. "Lance, look out!" Balan's shout made him look up at the airborne beast, the spade of its tail had opened into a trident as it swung the limb through the air.
The momentum being enough to correct the beast's position and trajectory so it could dive-bomb the Dark Maestro like a burning blue meteor. Neither of them expected for that particular powder to ignite upon contact as Balan watched his dark counterpart get flying by an azure explosion from his own body.
Creating a larger blast of yellow energy, the hat wearing man threw it at the violet tiger before heading over to his fallen ally. It let out a howl of annoyance upon the projectiles not only striking it's face but burst into a thick mustard smokescreen that made the feline gag.
Lance laid slanted by the tree he had hit, burn marks sprinkled over parts of his skin and clothing was singed too. "You okay, Lance?! This beast has more frightening power than just a ferocious stance!" Balan spoke, carefully helping his counterpart off the ground.
The movement made the elven male let out a mild hiss before shaking the greenette's hand off him. "As much as I like seeing you frown, this beast needs to be taken down. Balan, watch out for any powder from the skin of the hide, you'll lose more than just your pride."
Sharp claws of the draconic tiger swept away the hatted maestro's smokescreen. Bright blue fire burning burst the open jaws, the feline was absolutely pissed as even more azure fire spewed from the legs and tail or that the yellow ridges on the back and forelegs were now giant blades. It let out a furious roar forcing Balan and Lance to prepare for another attack.
That was until the entire world became silent, all of the instruments had oddly stopped playing. It was quiet until the sound of shamisen strings being plucked filled the still air with an orchestra of intimidating brass to follow in its wake. Sinister sounding melodies of violins and shinobue flutes were met with someone walking out from the brush.

It was Val'tah, a violet mask resembling the tiger donned on his face alongside dark violet coat with golden fur sleeves, dark violet hakama trousers decorated in elegant gold patterns reminiscent of fire and swords, two fake tails similar to the violet beast sewn on the back and without any shoes, only barefooted.
Balan and Lance stood speechless as the pinkette did something neither of them expected. The hunter had begun to dance in a style similar to those done by kabuki actors. His arms glided through the air, bits of glittering violet powder produced from the sleeves creating streaks in the air with an appearance mimicking purple misty fire.
Val'tah stomped his foot to the ground to spread out the mist like powder around him, the man spun into a short pirouette so he could stop in the Dragon Stance found in martial arts. It was like the hunter was manipulating magic to flow with his elegant and entrancing dance.
The sinister orchestra went perfectly with Val'tah's movements. Beating of hand drums, male chants with an ominous tone, shinobue flutes paired alongside the plucks of the shamisen and strung chords of the violin told a story on its own. A ritual performance of omens and cautionary tribulations.
Balan and Lance couldn't look away, neither could the beast who appeared to be calming down. The long yellow caparace blades lower themselves back into thin ridges, the trident tip of the tail collapses into its spade form and the eerie blue fire burning around the beast sputters out. Bright blue in its eyes dimming into a soft mellow teal.
Val'tah spun on the ball of his feet before transitioning into an aerial kick. The pinkette then used the momentum of the kick to position himself so he could bring down his arm in for a slash. He landed on the ground in a predatory stance, nails of his right hand dug into the soil, feet spread apart with knees bent for a crouch, left arm held out behind the man and the tiger mask facing the spectators.
The hunter then twirled himself into a backflip, all for the purpose of landing on his feet with his arms held and hands pressed together while the fingers were positioned to mimic fangs. Val'tah pulled his arms apart and let out a loud beastly roar with the final loud beats of the drum, the draconic tiger letting out its own roar in unison.
The pinkette took off his mask once the music returned to its more peaceful counterpart. "Glad I made it in time or Buena would've torn you to pieces. Luckily the Sonata of Omens can be played here or I would've been forced to do an acapella." Balan nearly choked upon the words Val'tah just said.
The giant hellish tiger that spews blue explosive fire was the hunter's friend?! Something Lance couldn't help but state the inquiry out loud. "You telling us the beast that nearly had us ravaged, is your companion that you ran off to scavenged?!"
Val'tah sheepishly scratched his head and let out a soft chuckle. The beast or Buena groomed their paws as if nothing happened. "She is a Magnamalo and they tend to be... tenacious predators. Buena is unique since she's friendlier than the regular 'malo, at least to me and any friend of mine."
Balan had a feeling there was more to this odd bond than just a story but… "At least your missing friend has been found, even if she treated us like a steak for a pound. Best to return back to the theatre, Lance got burnt bruises that need gauze by the meter." The top hatted Maestro then clapped his hands together as a giant door formed behind him.
It was big enough for the large Magnamalo to go through without any hindrance. Val'tah had a feeling there was going to be more magical convenience when it came to this odd theatre than just the taller duo living inside and a magical replica of the ritual clothing for the Sonata of Omens. Something to think about when he tries to figure out their situation.
And that's it! Yes this is a crossover between Balan Wonderworld and Monster Hunter but also my first Balan fic too! If you guys don't know, Balan Wonderworld is one of the games I've recently got and wholeheartedly. Sure it had problems but it was a delightful experience throughout my entire playthrough.
If you do decide to get the game, wait until it goes on sale. The full price isn't really suited considering the huge controversy involving it's development.
Our two star characters of this fic are an unlikely pair.
'The Hunter Who Wished To Dance' and owner of the mysterious 13th Door in Wonderworld: Val'tah Choso. A Monster Hunter who strived to become a performer but forsaken the goal partly for his ward, Buena.
Buena is a subspecies of Magnamalo called Will-O-Wisp Magnamalo. They expel blue fire often mistaken for spirit orbs and can engulf their body in an armor of azure fire for offensive defense. Only the Sonata of Omens, a mysterious ritualistic dance can calm a rampaging Magnamalo.
Until next time folks! I'll see you back in Wonderworld.

I have a (stupid?) question about Kibbe typing if you don't mind. Does it matter whether the person is male of female? Like if one is typed could they stilluse those guidelines for clothes that aren't "meant" for their sex? This doesn't make any sense. Point is, I have a female body and I like wearing men's clothes, would the guidelines /type be the same or would it change? Does that make sense? If this has been answered already, I apologize. Thanks!
on pure yin and yang in kibbe’s system + examples
the ideas of lines are the same, the thing is either is tailored differently in most cases since the prêt-à-porter industry assumes everyone is a classic (=average of their gender). so that’s where you have to adapt kibbe a little bit. BUT: there is a loophole for a couple types which is where it gets interesting.
female dramatics and most flamboyant or pure naturals can customize menswear. for dramatics it’s even recommended, see above how well that works. vice versa, male theatrical romantics or pure romantics can borrow elements from womenswear with equal ease. in fact, they look their best and most ethereal in it and usually become notorious.
to show you the principle: it’s weird the other way around. male romantic types are killed by menswear, especially dramatic lines. where they normally look so sweet and attractive, the whole outfit is suddenly hard on the eye and makes the face unusually severe contrary to how you know them. the lines are way too oversized.
same thing: womenswear on female dramatics? very strange clash of geometry. we look like giant birds in ruffles. because: curve, thin material, no weight to the fabric = too yin in contrast to the bone structure.
in the meantime: pure gamines hit the jackpot 😂 you can draw from either side and mix it up to your liking. silk and leather pants kind of stylings, nobody will even notice that you created a hybrid outfit since you carry opposites the best in the kibbe system. women and menswear melts into one thing on pure gamines.
classics and all other subtypes usually need to go in only one direction. in those cases, it does matter imo. and, it won’t fit you anyway: a female romantic type couldn’t squeeze into a long streamlined suit that a dramatic wears without effort. it’s too uncomfortable.
that’s also how many yin-dominant types think they’re overweight, born to be objectified or shamed, or hide themselves entirely (it’s currently happening with billie eilish). the opposite could be the case, the clothing line setup just is the opposite of your outline. only soft classic, soft natural, and finally their own lines tend to fit romantics properly in the first place:
imo that’s the blessing of the type, you can type yourself by elimination principle the fastest. the more pure yin or yang you have in your type, the faster you know whether menswear or womenswear does the trick. gamines and classics take longer to type themselves exactly because of that idea. classics are the golden middle and gamines can use either at random.

Do you think the writers would have been better off keeping Felix then them creating Adrien? Because Ladybug and Chat Noir are supposed to be balanced right? A sort of yin and yang, if you will. We obviously know that atm they aren't balanced in their civilian lives or their hero lives, do you think they would have been able to pull that off better with Felix apart of the mix?
This is a bit tricky to answer because Astruc seems to hate Felix’s concept with a passion. He’s under this impression that he’s a bad example for girls and boys, but at the same time he and the other writers think Adrien is a prime example of a nice kid that others should live up to be and want to have as a boyfriend/friend, when that obviously just isn’t true. His whole mindset would have to change.
Actually, no. Okay so it’s not that they would have been better off keeping Felix. If they were to keep Felix, than I would be under the impression that they would do so only to develop him later because they would understand that his character needs it. They wouldn’t have decided to settle on a character that is already perfect from the get go. So if that was the case, if they were fine with keeping Felix as a concept because they weren’t allergic to giving character growth to boys, then Adrien would have worked too because his character wouldn’t be looked at as this perfect kid who all the other characters should strive to be like. He would be treated like a normal character who has to grow.
In general I do think Felix would work better as a concept since both he and Marinette would have to grow up, not just Marinette, but again like it comes down to the writers thinking they need a boy character who is perfect. That’s their whole problem.

[Spoilers!] Adrien and Felix theory that doesn't involve sentimonsters Speculation What if Adrien and Felix got switched as kids? It's been said that they liked to switch places to play jokes on their parents. But if the parents can't tell what's to stop them from mixing up the boys as babies? People point out that its next to impossible for the two to be identical unless their parents look alike.
Felix and Adrien could be double cousins.
Two sisters marrying two brothers, it would explain why they look so close even if their fathers weren't twins. Amelie may not have stayed married to her husband as she retains her maiden name as well as Felixhaving the same last name instead of taking on his father's last name.
I got to thinking about that picture of baby Adrien and the switched eye colors. If we look at the colors picked for Emilie and Amelie, one wears white and one wears black. I'm guessing as yet another yin and yang reference. What if the parents we see in Adriens flashback aren't the right set of parents? And that's what the swapped eye color is hinting at? The eyes are the windows of the soul.
The sneak peeks for the episode Gabriel Agreste also show us a Gabriel with blonde hair, not brown like in the flashback art of baby Adrien.
Just a thought I had kicking around, as I don't think they'd mess up eye color like that after quality check, but you never know they might have just missed it and this is all just a bunch of fluff. ]
Just found a super good theory on the miraculous ladybug subreddit by a user named u/happybunnyntx
This would make sense for why Adrien's flashback as a child was so strange, and also this is a win for anti-sentimonster fans.
